Carmen Roy, 83, formerly of Beresford, died peacefully with her family at her side, on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at the Foyer Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, Bathurst, wife of Lionel Roy.

Born in Beresford she was the daughter of the late Émile and Dora (Boudreau) Frenette.

Beside her husband, she his survived by five children: Colombe Peters (Régis Cormier), Jean-Marie, both of Moncton, Paul-Émile of Dartmouth, N.S., Bernadette Roy (Renald) of Welland, Ont. and Marie-Ange Losier (Ghislain) of Beresford.

Eight grandchildren: Stéphanie, Jason, Erica, Christopher, Shelby, Steven, Kimberly and Mercedes.

Her brothers and sisters: Noëlla Desjardins (Gérard) of Dieppe, Jacques (Léda), Raymond (Yvonne), both of Beresford, Gisèle of Dieppe and Gilles (Jeannine) of Dunlop.

Also leaves to mourn her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law:  Marie-Louise (late Ivanhoe), Florence (late Yvon) both of Beresford, Isabelle Knowles (late Dick), Barbara Ann Chamberlain (Bernie) both of Bathurst, Donald Roy (Linda) of Belleville, Ont., several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by four brothers:  Cléophas (deceased at a young age), Ivanhoe, Yvon, Hubert and a son-in-law, Jim Peters.

Carmen was very involved in her community, with the choir Emmanuel, the Golden Age Club, especially with Le Cercle d’Amitié, she has directed for several years.

Visitations were held at Heritage Funeral Home of Beresford (www.mfheritage.com).

The funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 7 pm.  from The Holy Name of Jesus Church, Beresford.
