1967 – 2016
Christopher David Fisher of Bathurst, N.B. passed away at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, on Saturday January 30th 2016, at the age of 48, after a courageous battle with cancer, while exemplifying positivity, love and strength.
He was the beloved husband of Kezia Stever and amazing father to Reid and Hailey Fisher whom he adored.
He leaves behind his parents, Robert and Yvonne (McCarthy) Fisher and his brother John (Natalie) Fisher all of Bathurst. Also survived by his in-laws: Claude, Bonnie, Jessi, Keith and Mike.
Chris was born in Grand Falls, Newfoundland and was raised in Bathurst. Chris defied the odds surviving 31 years after his heart transplant in 1984. His strength and love of life led him to appreciate every moment and to live life to the fullest. He valued and modelled the importance of friendships in every aspect of his life.
He was an avid sports enthusiast having a passion for basketball, motorcycling, snowmobiling, golf and curling. As a coach and volunteer, Chris was admired by many and his service to the community was recognized most recently by being named a Freeman of the City of Bathurst.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Chris’ life at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst, on Tuesday February 2, 2016 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm and on Wednesday February 3 from 2 pm until time of funeral.
Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday February 3, 2016 at 4 pm at Holy Family Church, Bathurst.
Donations in memory of Chris may be made to his former school, Superior Middle School Student Council, where his children also currently attend.
