1935 - 2016
Mrs. Lillian Miller Lavigne, wife of Alvin Lavigne, of Bathurst passed away peacefully at the Chaleur Regional Hospital on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at the age of 81.
Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Ora and May (Melanson) Miller.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughter Donna of Bathurst and her two sons, Gerard (Shirley) of Dalhousie and Timothy of Bathurst.
Three grandchildren: Manon Haché, Pascal Guindon and Haylee Lavigne. Three great grandchildren: Nico, Théo and Nadine. One sister, Lorraine Trotman of Victoria, BC and a special niece, Laura Lee Doucet of Bathurst.
Lillian was an avid sports enthusiast who enjoyed curling, golf and her beloved Toronto Blue Jays. She served on the executive for both the Bathurst Curling Club and the Gowan Brae Golf & Country Club. She was a member of the curling team who won the Ladies Provincial Championship in 1978 and represented New Brunswick at the Canadian Lassie Curling Championship. Her other passion was knitting and she truly enjoyed sharing her knowledge with others.
She was predeceased by her daughter Wanda, her sister Beulah and her brother William.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, February 19, 2016 from 12:30 pm until time of service at 2:00 pm at Elhatton’s Funeral Chapel, St. George Street, Bathurst, NB. A celebration of Lillian’s life will follow at Gowan Brae Golf & Country Club.
Donations in memory of Lillian may be made to the charity or foundation of the donor’s choice.
The family wishes to extend its heartfelt gratitude to all the staff of 4th floor West and the Palliative Care Unit at the Chaleur General Hospital.
