Bathurst - It is with great sadness that the family announce the peaceful passing of Elmer Hachey of St. Peter Ave., Bathurst, which occurred Saturday, June 4 2016, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, following a sudden illness, at the age of 75.
Born in Bathurst, he was the youngest son of the late James and Hilda (Carroll) Hachey.
Originally from East Bathurst, he later moved to Janeville where he delivered furnace oil for Ellsworth Chapman & later became the "Downshore" mailman for many years. He later took a job at the former Bathurst Irving Carwash & became a proud Irving employee for 29 years providing excellent customer service, always greeting people with a smile & friendly conversations. After his retirement, from Irving Oil, he took his last job at Esso Tiger Express where he worked with pride & courtesy until he officially retired.
He will be deeply missed by his children: Sharon Gallant (Ron) of McQuade, NB, Sandra Hachey of Calgary, AB, Michael Hachey (Tracy) of Riverview, NB and an adopted son, Warren Hachey (Bridgette) of Edmonton, AB.
Eight: grandchildren: Sarah, Christopher, Tori, Brittney, Denise, Danielle, Deanna, Rebecca; four great-grandchildren: Aleck, Jackob, Hailey and Maddox.
One brother, Harold Hachey and one sister, Marion Hachey both of Bathurst. Two nephews: Howard and Claude.
He was pre-deceased by a brother, Donald.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, June 10 2016 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com) Bathurst.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 11 a.m. from Holy Family Church, St. Peter Ave., Bathurst.
Donations in memory of Elmer may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
