1937 – 2016
It is with heavy hearts the family wishes to announce the loss of their mother, Albertine O’Connell, wife of the late Guy O’Connell (2013) of Munro Street, passed away at her residence on Monday, June 6, 2016 at the age of 78. Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Marie-Anne (Marcoux) Lavoie.
She is survived by one son, Terry of St. Thomas, ON; three daughters: Sharon DeKraker (Ben) of Sussex, NB, Lynn Vienneau (Daniel) of Bathurst, Bonnie Weil (Wayne) of Alymer, ON; and her beloved and devoted Yorkie, Scarlet; seven grandchildren: Brendon and Dustin DeKraker, Kayla and Michelle Vienneau, Austin, Kaisha and Scott Weil; one great-grandson, Parker; four sisters: Lena Savoie of Saint John, NB, Marie Ross of St. Thomas, ON, Yvonne Whiteside of Trenton, ON, Jeannette Sauntry (Merlin) of St. Catherines, ON. Several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three brothers: Léo, Sarto, Adrien and a sister, Lorette.
Albertine was a cherished wife, mother and homemaker for most of her life. She was completely dedicated to her family. She had many talents, two of which were cooking and baking. Whenever Mom would make a batch of her homemade bread, the fresh baked aroma often drew neighbours into the house for an impromptu visit...just as the loaves were cooling on the racks.
In the spring and summer, Mom loved to spend time outside working in her gardens, and was known for her green thumb. It didn’t matter what it was...flowers, shrubs or vegetables...they all flourished under her care.
Mom was a wonderful, caring and selfless woman to whom family meant everything. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered forever in our hearts.
Rest in Peace Mom...until we meet again.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Elhatton Funeral Chapel (www.elhatton.com) St. George St., with a reception to follow.
Donations in memory of Albertine may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Extra Mural Program of New Brunswick, and to Melanie of Atlantic Quality Care...you helped to make this difficult time a little easier.
