1945 - 2016

Bathurst – David Briggs, 70, of Van Tassel St., Bathurst, passed away on Wednesday July 20, 2016, at the Saint John Regional Hospital.

Born in Kingston, ON, he was the son of the late Robert and Vera (Barns) Briggs.

He worked as a miner until his retirement.

Besides his wife, Julie (Doucet) Briggs, he is survived by three sons: Bob (Carmen) of Strathmore, AB, Dale (Tonya Broadhurst) of Wainwright, AB and Jason (Kellie) of Shilo, MB.  Six grandchildren, Dean, Emmarsyn, Krissa, Kyla, Elyzabeth and Alyssa.

One brother, Freddy Briggs (Bill Elms) of Vancouver, BC.  Three sisters: Brenda Girouard of Beauséjour, MB, Ellen Thomson (Jimmy) of Vancouver, BC and Shirley Briggs (Kathy Quinn) of Riverview, NB.  Several nieces and nephew.

He was pre-deceased by a sister, Kathleen.

As per his wishes, his body has been donated to Medical Science.  The family invite you to a celebration of David’s life between the hours of 2 and 3 p.m. Wednesday July 27, 2016 at Elhatton`s Funeral Home Chapel (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.  Donations in memory of David may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
