It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Mr. Rosaire Bélanger, husband of Gisèle (Noël) Bélanger , after a courageous battle with cancer, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, on Monday March 5, 2018, at the age of 71. He lived in Bathurst.
Born in Colin Office, Madawaska, he was the son of the late Michel Bélanger and Délia LaPlante.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his two sons: Stéphane of Halifax, NS. and François (Caroline Aubé) of LaPlante.
His brothers : Aldéo Bélanger (Rina) of Madawaska, Maine USA, and Lucien Bélanger (late Abella) of Montreal.
His sisters: Angeline Lapierre (late Aristide) and Aline Corriveau (late Gideon, both of Madawaska, Maine, E.U., Georgette Picard (late Aurèle), Micheline Ouellette (late Aldéo), and Irma Bélanger, all of St. Basil and Liette Thibeau (Romain) of Edmundston.
He also leaves many nephews and nieces who he was very fond of. As well as two brothers-in-law: Ronald Bélanger (late Marielle) and Guilmond Ouellette (late Lucienne); a sister-in-law; Jacqueline Bélanger (late Laurien); his mother-in-law, Léona Noël and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
He was predeceased by four sisters: Jeanine, Lucienne, Marielle, and Solange, and two brothers: Rino and Laurien.
Rosaire was a member of the Old Bathurst Farmers Market where he was recognized as "The Jam Man" by his many customers and friends.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 at the Elhatton Funeral Home Chapel (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst, at 2:00 pm. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Palliative Care Department of the Chaleur Regional Hospital for the care provided to Rosaire during his long stay as a patient. In Memory of Rosaire, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Palliative Care Unit at the Chaleur Regional Hospital or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
