It is with sadness that we, the family, of Thelma Grace (Hills) Jamieson announce the peaceful passing, surrounded by family on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst at the age of 90.
Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Inez (Jagoe) Hills.
She was the beloved wife of the late Everett A. Jamieson.
She is survived by her five children, Laura (Ted Lawson) of Miami Beach, USA, Stephen (Barb) of Fort MacMurray, AB, Mary (Rick Larder) of Saint John, Stanley (Linda) and Charles (Shirley) both of Bathurst. 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and special friends, Margaret and Walter Sealy.
Thelma is also survived by her sister Betty (Cliff) Boyer of Saint John, Thomas (Connie) of Ottawa and sisters-in-law Eleanor MacIntosh and Sybil Hills.
She was predeceased by brothers Charles and Robert and a sister Joyce.
Thelma was a lifelong resident of Bathurst. She was a very talented and creative lady who dedicated much of her time, skills and gifts to her church, community and family. She taught many people over the years how to quilt, knit, preserve and can goods at home. She produced and gave away many quilts, afghans, jams and pickles that have ended up worldwide. She taught Sunday school, Junior Axillary and Girls Axillary. She was a gift to many people as well as a wonderful, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Foyer Doucet and the Palliative Care Unit of the Chaleur Regional Hospital, and a special thanks to all those who assisted her while she still lived at home.
There will be no visitation or funeral service at Thelma’s request. There will be a burial service and a celebration of Thelma’s life at a future date in the summer. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
