Joanna Ronalds, 85, of Bathurst, passed away at 7:30 am on August 31st at the Chaleur Regional Hospital.

Joanna was born in 1934 in Bathurst NB and was a lifelong resident of Carron Point. Coming from a family of 12, she dedicated her life to others, working hard to provide for her family, from her siblings, to children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was known for her generous spirit, quiet kindness, and love of children. The many children who were in her loving care over the years benefited from a woman who took joy in teaching them the difference between right and wrong, how to be kind, how to be respectful, and how to be confident in themselves. Joanna was pure love, and so much of what is good in this world. 

Joanna is survived by her daughter Audrey Ronalds (Denis Savoie), her son Floyd Ronalds (Carole Fournier), grandchildren Erin Schryer (Brian Schryer), Jordan Bell (Shannon Nagle), Connor Fontaine, Haidyn Ronalds, and great-grandchildren Nathan Schryer and Jackson Bell. She is also survived by three siblings, Thelma Gionet, Douglas Morrison and Ursula Moses as well as many loving nieces, nephews, family and friends. 

Joanna was predeceased by her daughter, Cindy Ronalds in 2005, and husband, Rauleigh Ronalds in 2017. 

Joanna’s family would like to sincerely thank the many caregivers who worked to keep Joanna in her home in the past few years and became her friends. Heartfelt gratitude is also expressed to Extra-Mural, to the friends that she made at Southern Comfort and to the team in the palliative care department at the Chaleur Regional Hospital for their kindness in her final days. 

A private service will be held for the family at Elhatton’s Funeral Home in Bathurst on September 4th. As an expression of sympathy, the family has requested donations to the Royal Canadian Legion.
