  • Boyd Eric Cormier 1936-2021

  •  Date of Death: September 24, 2021
  •  Location: Bathurst

Boyd Eric Cormier of Vienneau’s Residence, Bathurst, NB, passed away at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst on Thursday, September 24, 2021 at the age of 85. Born in Canobie, NB, was the son of the late James and Meta Cormier.

He had a long career as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic at the East Bathurst Garage.

His life revolved around his family - his heart was filled with love for Theresa, Juanita, Echo and Marc.

Boyd was a gentle man, known for his kindness and willingness to help others.

He was an avid hobbyist of radio-controlled boats, planes, cars and trucks. Also, he was known for his skill in woodworking and many family members have pieces of his fine work which will be forever treasured.

In addition, he enjoyed many years in the camp he built. Here he embraced the four seasons by hunting and fishing. Even in the winter months he would keep the road to the camp open with many snowmobile trips.

He leaves behind his wife of 53 years Theresa (Daley), daughter Juanita Gallagher (Marc) and grandchild Echo, sister Tina VanTassel, cousins Wayne Cormier and Anne Legere, as well as many other nieces and nephews and several cousins, all of whom shared a very special bond with him. He had a special relationship with Theresa’s family, and leaves many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law who will miss him greatly. He also leaves behind a wealth of friends, near and far.

Boyd gave all of us an example of how to take on life's challenges with remarkable perseverance and resilience and showed us how he "fought the good fight" through many obstacles and never lost his deep faith. He was a member of the Roman Catholic Church.

A heartfelt thank you to Residence Vienneau, for their impeccable care and unconditional love. An extra special thank you to Linda, Karen, Charline and Rachel - for going above and beyond, for your exceptional love and attention, and for being family.

Much gratitude also to Dr. Eve-Marise Boudreau, for her care and compassion over the last many years, and to Lloyd Branch, nurse in the Palliative Care Unit of the Bathurst hospital, for being a such a good soul.

Rest In Peace, Boyd. We will love you always.

The family asks that any donations be made to a charity of one’s choice.
