It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Phyllis Brideau, loving wife of Andrew Brideau. She passed with family by her side on Sunday, December 12, 2021, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, at the age of 74.
Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Laura (Boucher) Blanchard. Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters: Caroline (Merle) Travis of Enfield, NS and Cindy (Kris) Whynacht of Tantallon, NS. Her son: Kevin (Genvieve) Brideau of Miramichi, NB.
She leaves behind her four cherished grandchildren: Laura and Julia Travis, Haley and Gavin Whynacht.
Two brothers: John "Jack" (Jenny) of Waterloo, ON and Raymond (Gloria) of Bathurst. One sister, Pauline “Polly” Forsey (Walt)of Riverview. Several beautiful nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was pre-deceased by two brothers: Edward "Ned" Blanchard, Kenneth “Kenny” Blanchard, and two sisters: Margaret “Peggy” Doucet Melanson and Veronica "Vonnie" Hachey.
Phyllis was happily married to the love of her life for 52 years. She was the most amazing mother and devoted grandmother. She was a dear friend to many who will miss her greatly. Phyllis had a passion for making quilts. She was a proud member of the North Star Quilt Guild. Phyllis was happiest when spending time with people she loved.
There will be visitation at Elhatton’s Funeral Home on Thursday, December 16, 2021, from 11:30 – 1:30. Mask’s and double vaccination will be required.
Burial will take place on Friday, August 5th, 2022 at Sacred Heart Cathedral Cemetery, South Bathurst.
Donations in memory of Phyllis may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
