Bathurst, It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of Mrs. Mildred Arseneau, wife of the late Cleophas (Cleo) Arseneau, which occurred on Tuesday March 01, 2022, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst at the age of 96.

Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late William and Rose Anna (Christie) Comeau.

She is survived by two daughters, Margaret Rose “Margie” Skrobot (late Andrew) of Rose Hill and Carol Ann Best (Fred) of Bathurst.

Her grandchildren: Steven, Christopher and Stephanie. Six great-grandchildren: Andrew, Hannah, Sydney, Noah, Devlan and Spencer.

She is also survived by two sisters: Geraldine Arseneault (late Larry) of Bathurst and Mary Anne Kenny (late Harold) of Miramichi.

Several niece and nephews.

She is pre-deceased her husband Cleo, baby daughter Dora and her sisters and brothers: Doris (Jerry) Doucet, Gerald (Joy), Margaret Hachey (Hector), Leonard (Jessie), Denis (Helen) and Elizabeth “Bessie” Boudreau (Gerald).

She was an active member of the Holy Family Parish Catholic Women’s League and member of the former Legion of Mary, Holy Rosary Church. Mildred had many activities including bowling, line dancing, Club 200, cross country skiing and playing cards with friends.

She enjoyed baking, knitting, sewing and loved to spend the summers at her Cottage.

She loved her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren’s hugs. She may not see them or talk to them now, but we do know she is watching over them, sending hugs and kisses from above.

She is resting in peace with her husband and other family members.

The family would like to thank Dr. Nathalie Cauchon for caring for Mildred (Nana) all these years, going out of her way by coming to our home to see Mildred when she was needed. We also would like to thank the palliative care department for their care of Mildred during her short stay and the Extra Mural Program.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday March 15th, 2022, at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst after 12 noon until time of Funeral Mass at 2 p.m. from Holy Family Church, Bathurst. Donations in memory of Mildred can be made to the Heart and Stroke foundation or to a charity of your choice.
