It is with great sadness that the family of Donald J. Daigle, announce his passing which occurred on Monday March 7th, 2022 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst at the age of 71.

Born in South Tetagouche, he was the son of the late Stanley and Macrina (Lagacy) Daigle.

Besides his wife of 49 years, Anita Caissie Daigle of Bathurst, he is survived by: one brother, Albany Daigle (Margaret Good) of Sainte-Anne, Glou. Co. and four sisters: Delcina Robert of Bathurst, Doris (Cornelius) Imhoff of Port Hope, ON, Yvonne Henry (Oswald Jr.) of Brighton, ON, and Evelyn Legacy (Ronald) of Sainte-Anne, Glou. Co.

An uncle, Alex Legacy (Jeanine) of Nigadoo, N.B.

He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and great-nephews. He was especially proud of walking of his niece Cindy Marquis (Roger) down the aisle on her wedding day.

He is also survived by his sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law.

Besides his parents and grandparents, he was predeceased by his brother, Johnny.

Donald was a devoted and attentive husband, friend and protector to his wife Anita. Where you would see one, the other wasn’t far behind.

Donald worked at the former Brunswick Mines for 10 years along side his late father Stanley in the open pit Quarry and then transferred to underground. He also worked at the Gowan Brae Golf Course for 31 years, having retired in 2010.

He loved the outdoors, he was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed hunting with his best friend Aurèle. He also enjoyed camping, nice long walks in the woods and snaring rabbits.

The family would like to thank the extra mural nurses for their exceptional care and compassion for Donald.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 22nd, 2022 at 2 p.m. from Elhatton’s Funeral Home Chapel (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Masks are mandatory to attend the service.

Donations in memory of Donald may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
