In loving memory of Leona Hachey who passed away suddenly on August 31st , 2022 at the age of 77 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital. Leona was a compassionate, kind, caring and giving person who always put the needs of her family and others before her own. She worked for the Canadian Red Cross for over 30 years as a homemaker helping seniors and those recovering from illness or injury live independently. She was so full of life and will always be remembered by her joyous personality as well as her infectious and unique laugh. She was a strong woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage and dignity. Our mother was a source of inspiration to us all and she will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she touched. Her passion was enjoying spending time with her family and friends, cooking, gardening and scratching lottery tickets.

Leona had a special place in her heart for her birthplace in Cape Breton, N.S and one of her happiest places was in Soldiers Cove.

She was the devoted wife of Christian Vienneau and loving mother to Debbie Cadwell (Brian), Gilles, Lisette (Darryl Maunder) and Manon. A grandmother to Nathalie, Kate, Kris, Nicholas, Kayla, Marc, Daniel, Sophie, Catherine and Christine and great grandmother to Haley, Derrick, Emma, Jake, Brooke, Caleb, Gavin, Jerzey, Owen, Liam, Max, Dalton, Ethan and Elena and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Anthony Jean and Victoria Brown (Pâté); and her siblings, Leontine, Alexander, Albert, Leonard, Armand, Bernard, Elizabeth and George.

The family will receive relatives and friends after 2 p.m. on Tuesday September 6, 2022 at Heritage Funeral Home in Beresford until the departure for the funeral mass which will be held at 4 p.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Church, Beresford.

Donations in memory of Leona can be made to the Canadian Red Cross or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Mom, you will always be in our hearts and we will never forget you. We love you so much maman. Rest in peace.
