Roland Frenette

  • Roland Frenette 1943-2022

  •  Date of Death: October 21, 2022
  •  Location: Bathurst

It is with great sadness that the family wishes to announce the death of Roland Frenette, of Sainte Anne, Gloucester County, which occurred at the Chaleur Regional Hospital on Oct 21st 2022 surrounded by his family at the age of 79.

Born in Nigadoo, he was the son of the late Albert Frenette and Anna Roy. He will be missed dearly by Jackie Boudreau of Beresford with whom he spent his last few years, providing him with an enormous amount of love, and companionship when it was needed it the most.

He is survived his sons René (Jeannette) and Éric (Penny), both of Bathurst. He leaves behind his grandchildren Patrick (Sophie) of Bathurst and Rachelle (Logan) of Moncton, as well as his sister Yolande (Randy O’Neil) from Miramichi and the mother of his children Annette Frenette (Philippe Arseneault) of Petit-Rocher.

Roland was pre-deceased by his sister Claudette (Yvon Haché) whom he still missed deeply.

Roland was a jack of all trades and master of some. He started his journey in the workforce by being a cook’s helper with his father at a lumberjack camp. Then, after a brief stint in the US army he returned to Canada and embarked on a multitude of occupations some of which included real Estate agent and insurance salesman. He also owned and operated along with his wife Annette the Irving Car Wash in Bathurst during the late eighties. His true passion however became apparent later in life when he honed his skills as a carpenter and in doing so evolved to become a general contractor. He built and sold homes in the Bathurst area and eventually in Dieppe NB. His crowning achievement however, was being one the developers of what is known today as Héritage sur mer in Beresford.

Roland was someone who had an incredibly huge sense of adventure and zest for life that few could even dream to possess. Throughout the years he developed many interests and hobbies. These included sailing (his favourite), snowmobiling, kayaking and biking to name but a few. Throughout the years he owned a various number of camps where he could indulge in his other activities such as hunting and fishing or to simply sit in the solitude of the wilderness enjoying a glass of rye by the woodstove while reading a good novel.

As per his wishes there will be no church service or public visitation at the funeral home. Instead, as he would have preferred, a private celebration of his life will be held for immediate family at a later date.

Donations in memory of Roland may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
