Bathurst – Mario Nini Sr. husband of the late Patricia (Lavigne) Nini of Packard St., Bathurst, passed away on Monday, November 14th, 2022 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst at the age of 88.

Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Luigi and Elizabeth (Doucet) Nini.

He is survived by his four children: Alvera Melanson (Donald) of Moncton, Mario Jr. (Dorothy) of Bathurst, NB, Antonio (Monique) of Chamberlain Settlement and Maurina Comeau (Marc) of Moncton.

Seven grandchildren and two great-granchildren.

As well as one brother, Reginald Nini (Leona) of Dunlop.

Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by brothers: Anthony “Jack” and Albénie; sisters: Louise, Hazel, Cécile, Carmella, Viola and Marguerite.

A former middleweight boxer, Mario was a passionate sportsman. He also enjoyed the outdoors and made frequent hunting and fishing trips.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 18th, 2022 at 11 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew St., Bathurst.
