Bathurst - It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of our dear Lionel Hachey, which occurred suddenly at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst on Sunday the 25th of December at the age of 85. Living in Bathurst, he was the husband of Patricia (Comeau) Hachey. He was the son of the late Henry Hachey and late Albina (Roy) Hachey.
He worked many years as a driver’s examiner for the Province of NB. Lionel was very sociable and knew a lot of people. He loved telling stories and most of all, he loved to play cards. He was a 3rd Degree member of the Holy Rosary Knights of Columbus Council.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his kids, Michel Hachey of Regina, Eric Hachey (Louise Lavoie) of Edmundston and Caroline Hachey (Patrick Eddie) of Bathurst; six grandchildren that he loved very much: Denham, Caitlyn, Maxime, Jérémie, Pierre-Olivier and Vincent.
He also leaves behind five brothers and one sister: Ernest Hachey (Jocelyne Godin) of Moncton, Roly Hache (Caroll) of Florida, Jeanine Degrasse (Late Charles), Aurele Hachey (Susan), Paul Hachey (Sheila) and Sammy Hachey (Louise Ouellette) all of Bathurst.
He is also survived by several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces.
Besides his parents, he is now resting with his son Marc-André who passed away in July 2022.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. The funeral will be celebrated on Friday January 20, 2023, at 2 p.m. from Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Bathurst. Donation in the memory of Lionel may be made to the Chaleur Regional Hospital foundation or a favorite charity.
