It is with broken hearts, that we the family, announce the sudden passing of Bruce Randell Smith, of Miramichi Road, which occurred Monday May 29th, 2023 at the age of 61.
Born on Miramichi Road, he was the son of Grant Smith and the late Mildred (Peters) Smith.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Donna (Babin) and his two children: Brent (Courtney) Smith of Nine Mile River, NS and Jamie (Keegan) McNeely of Miramichi Road.
He was a loving "Grampy" to four grandchildren: Peyton and Savanah McNeely and Bryson and Nolan Smith, whom he always made room for in the side by side or had a special treat to share, as long as they'd get him one too.
Besides his father Grant Smith, he is survived by his brothers: Carl (Glenda) and Kenny (Shirley) both of Miramichi Road and his sister, Helen (Rob) Groslouis of Lower Coverdale. And Kelly (Barry) Branch, along with several nieces and nephews.
At a young age, Bruce was involved in many local sports associations and kept that love going throughout his life. He took pride in watching his grandkids enjoy the same sports he grew up playing.
If he wasn't in the woods dropping trees, fishing or hunting, he was known for his pop in visits which were always welcomed by everyone who had the pleasure of having him drive in their yard.
Bruce had the biggest heart, always showing how much he cared through his actions. A man of few words, he always got his point across. His small gestures hold a special place in our memories.
The family is forever grateful for the attention and care Bruce received by first responders of the NBSB Fire Department, Ambulance NB, the RCMP and community members.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst on Friday June 2nd, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 3rd at 10 a.m. from First United Church, St. Patrick St.
Donations in memory of Bruce may be made to the New Bandon Salmon Beach Fire Department or a charity of the donor’s choice.
