Arthur Jik Doo Lee, a beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully in Moncton on August 15, 2023, leaving the fondest of memories with those whose lives he touched, and forever strengthening the bonds of his family, which was most important to him.
Born to Jim and Mee Ken Lee in 1935 in Long Tow, Hoi Ping, Guangdong Province, China, Arthur was raised by his loving mother, while his father, as many did in those times, was earning a living in Canada to support the family. At a young age, Arthur moved alone to Hong Kong in 1946 and soon after met his true love Linda while in high school. In 1952, he further emigrated with his mother to Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, uniting this small family unit. Finishing high school in Halifax, Arthur began attendance in the engineering program at Dalhousie University. In 1961, Arthur flew back to Hong Kong to marry Linda to begin their life here in Canada.
Arthur’s career took him down a different path from his studies as he opened the Seaview Dining Room in 1965 and what was to become the first of many business establishments in Bathurst, N.B. and the beginning of a very successful and vibrant entrepreneurial career that spanned over 40 years. From the Seaview Restaurant to the well-known Bohemian Night Club which was in operation until 2004, Arthur with his wife Linda touched the lives of so many over the years, bringing them joy and inspiration as they diligently ran their businesses.
Arthur’s indelible smile was ever-present and was indicative of his approach to life and treatment of others. Arthur often showed his kindness and care for others through his support of local charities and businesses. For all who knew him, humility, kindness, diligence and integrity would come easily to mind when thinking about him.
He is survived by his loving wife Linda, his children Grace, Bernard (Joanne), Anita (Doug), Vincent (Jessika), Sandra, and grandchildren Colin, Alyssa, Aerika, Adam, Lexi, Anna, Aidan and Rowan.
All friends and family are welcome to the visitation to be held at Elhatton Funeral Home, 187 St. George Street, Bathurst, NB on Sunday, August 20 from 7-9pm.
