It is with a heavy heart that I have had to say goodbye to my best friend and love of my life, Mary Lillian Connolly Aubie. Life will go on for all of us who were fortunate to have had her in our lives, but it will certainly be a life less full. Trips to the Camp, runs down the river and strolls on Youghall beach will just not be the same without her.
Born in 1960 to the late William C. Connolly and the late Lillian (MacDonald) Connolly, Mary was the youngest of seven siblings.
Besides her husband of 39 years, Michael Aubie, she will be missed by siblings Don Connolly (Maureen), Sharon Connolly, Judy Hachey (Wayne), Bill Connolly (Faye), John Connolly and Joe Connolly; her sisters-in-law Jocelyne Schwenger (Rick) and Denise Rainsberry (Bob); as well as many, many, many cousins, and friends, with the Dempsey girls Jean and Janice falling into both categories. She will be especially missed by her two lifelong friends, the two E's of E=mc2, Elizabeth Doucet (Moran) and Elizabeth McMeekin (Whelton).
She worked hard to try and earn the spot of favourite auntie to her seventeen nieces and nephews and twenty grand nieces and nephews, and was not beyond bribery to achieve that status. The one thing she would not do to gain that position was throw a card game. She loved to win bragging rights.
I wish to thank the Doctors and exceptional nursing staff of the Chaleur regional hospital for their excellent and tender care. Their efforts provided Mary with comfort and peace and made a very hard experience so much more bearable for all the family.
Funeral service will be held on Friday May, 10, 2024, at 2 p.m. from Sacred Heart Cathedral, Bathurst.
Anyone wishing to make a donation is asked to do so to the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements in the care of Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com).
