It is with sadness the family announces the passing of Léo LeBlanc, husband to the late Geraldine (Hachey) LeBlanc, which occurred at the Foyer Notre Dame de Lourdes on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at the age of 97.
Born in Atholville, he was the son of the late Simon LeBlanc and the late Marie (Dumas) LeBlanc. After living in Montreal and various locations in the Maritimes, Leo chose to retire in Geraldine’s hometown of Bathurst. Leo was very active in the local community as a member of the Rotary Club, UCT, the Knights of Columbus (4th degree) and, from 1998 to 2011, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chaleur Regional Hospital Foundation. As Chairman he was a visionary and well-liked by everyone, raising funds for numerous initiatives throughout the hospital. In recognition of his contributions, a bursary endowment fund was established in his name.
Leo leaves behind his children: Suzanne Goodwin (Carl), Marc LeBlanc (Victoria) both of Halifax, NS and Erin LeBlanc (Julie) of London, Ontario, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren plus several nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his brothers Roland and Yvon, and his sister Corrine.
Visitation will be held from 7-9pm on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Elhatton’s funeral home. Funeral mass will be held from Holy Family Church on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 2:00pm.
Donations may be made to the Chaleur Regional Hospital Foundation in memory of Léo LeBlanc.
