Bathurst - Edgar Payne, 86, of Bridge St., Bathurst, passed away on Saturday (March 19, 2011) at the Regional Hospital Center, Bathurst.

Born in Stonehaven, he was the son of the late William and Adelaide (Dempsey) Payne.

He owned and operated with his wife, the former Bee Hive Convenience store in East Bathurst.  In retirement, he enjoyed carving and gardening.

He was pre-deceased by his wife, Gertrude (Eddy) Payne in 2002.

He is survived by:  Five sisters; Edith Pankiw (Fred) of Weston, ON, Frances Miceli (Rocco) of Etobicoke, ON, Vina Taylor (John) of Bathurst, Eva Jagoe of Canobie and Isabel von Kannen (Bert) of Etobicoke, ON.  Several nieces and nephews.

He was pre-deceased by 2 brothers; Charles and Harold.

The body will rest after 2 p.m. Sunday at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.  Funeral Service will be held on Monday morning (March 21, 2011) at 11:00 a.m. from Central United Church, Clifton. Visiting hours are Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
