1935 – 2015
Bathurst - Keith "Trapper" Dougherty, 80, of Bathurst, passed away on Friday December 4, 2015 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a long battle with COPD. Born in St. Stephen, N.B. Keith was the only child of the late Lloyd and Exie (McGee) Dougherty.
Keith attended Mount Allison University where he was a member of the soccer and hockey teams. He was an avid curler and golfer and was the NB PEI Golf Champion in 1952. After 13 years in the RCAF as a navigator and air traffic controller, Keith embarked on his second career in office equipment sales throughout Ontario and New Brunswick. He and Marion eventually settled in Bathurst in 1979.
Keith was well known for his sense of humor, unique expressions and nick names for his many friends and acquaintances. He had a gift for saying the right thing at the right time.
Keith loved spending time with his family and is survived by his wife, Marion (Mason) Dougherty and daughter, Judy Lebans (Geoff) of Dartmouth, N.S.; his grandchildren: Kasey (Mitchell), Cody and Connor, and great-grandchildren: Austin and Thomas.
The family will receive relatives and friends after 2 p.m. Sunday December 6, 2015 at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Funeral Service will be held on Monday December 7, 2015 at 11 a.m. from Elhatton's Funeral Home Chapel, St. George St., Bathurst. Visiting hours are Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Donations in memory of Keith may be made to the Lung Association or a charity of the donor’s choice.
