A lifelong resident of SalmonBeach she was a member of St. Alban’s Anglican Church where she was a member of the Ladies Guild. She volunteered with the home and school associations for many years. Mildred was a former president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Herman Good VC Branch 18 of the Royal Canadian Legion, Bathurst; an active volunteer with the poppy fund and blood donor clinics and enjoyed her shuffleboard group.
Mildred was a very proud mother and grandmother who loved to have her family close by and whose life was devoted to their care and wellbeing. She cherished her home and loved to care for her flowers. She was an avid cribbage player who was always ready for a spirited match. Mildred travelled to spend time with her children in Moncton, Riverview, Ontario, Alberta and Newfoundland but was always happiest to be back in SalmonBeach. Mildred was able to remain in her own home until the age of 87 with the help of family, neighbors, and friends in Salmon Beach especially nephew, Alan and Marielle Miller, and Dorothy (late Ronnie) Knowles to whom the family will always be grateful.
Visiting hours with family are on Tuesday, December 22 from and 7 to 9 at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com) in Bathurst. Funeral will be at the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, December 23 at 2 p.m.
