1938 – 2016
In loving memory of our wonderful aunt Trudy Payer, who passed away on Valentines Day, February 14, 2016 at her residence in Bathurst at the age of 77.
For 39 years she was the devoted wife of Dr. Pierre J. Payer to whom she was married until his death in 2009. Since then, not a day went by that she didn't miss her "sweetie pie".
She is predeceased by her parents: Helen and Harry Driscoll, her brother, Morris and two sisters: Carole Anne and Isobel Leeman.
Trudy was born in Black Rock, N. B. and grew up both there and in Bathurst N. B. After her high school graduation she entered the convent and taught elementary school in British Columbia. Trudy eventually left the church and returned to the east coast. She taught in Halifax N. S. and it was there that she met and married her beloved husband Pierre. After his death in 2009 she returned to Bathurst to be closer to her twin sister, Isobel.
As young girls, Trudy always had a new adventure waiting for us. She took us to see our first movie, to the Ice Cream Factory for gargantuan sundaes, and on our long walks, she tirelessly answered the endless questions we posed.
Trudy was a meticulous, artistic woman who spent hours building us perfect dollhouses and painting the decorations that mark our families' holidays. Trudy loved and was loved in return. She gave the best squeezy hugs. Hugs that made you feel safe and warm and oh so cherished. We'll miss those wonderful hugs and we all, her nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and in-laws will miss her.
There will be no visitation or funeral by her request. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
