1929-2016

Bathurst--Joyce (Cormier) Mann, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2016 at the Foyer Notre-Dame de Lourdes, Bathurst.  Joyce was born in New Glasgow, NS , the daughter of the late Leo Edgar Cormier and Zita (Martin) Cormier. She was predeceased by her husband, Kevin Mann and her two sisters, Lois Humes of Moncton, NB and Ann Legere from Portland, Maine.

Joyce, along with her husband Kevin, embraced Bathurst as their home. Together they contributed to the community as owners of the former Peppers Drug Store with Joyce involved in several organizations including the Irish Canadian Cultural Association, the Red Cross, the Bathurst Rotary and Sacred Heart Cathedral Choirs and Chair of School District 4 and the Bathurst Music Festival. Joyce was both a member and past President of Sacred Heart Cathedral  Catholic Women's League.

Joyce is survived by her five children: Kevin Leo ( Mary Rhona Francoeur) and John (Alice) both of Bathurst, Carol (David) Hilchey of Chester, NS, Tom ( Anne Caverhill) of Fredericton, and Jennifer Young (Tim) of Moncton; seven grandchildren : Andrew and Stephen Hilchey, Caroline, Charlotte and Jonathan Mann, and Lindsay and Carter Young; and four great grandchildren: Isla and Adelaide Keys, August Julson and Gavin Hilchey. Joyce is also survived by her sister Joan Trites of Ottawa, Ontario and her sisters in law Rita Bohan and Anne Mann from Moncton and a large extended family of nieces and nephews.

Joyce loved life, appreciated music and the Arts and instilled a love for travel in her family. She thrived on current events, particularly politics and loved nothing more than a good debate. Joyce also took great comfort in her faith and will be remembered for her warmth and unfailing sense of optimism.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday,July 6, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, Bathurst, with honorary pall bearers, David, Stephen, and Andrew Hilchey; Tim and Carter Young and Jonathan Mann.

Donations in memory of Joyce may be made to the Foyer Notre- Dame-de-Lourdes Foundation; Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of the Donors choice.
