The passing of Mary "Alma" LeBlanc of Residence Boudreau Special Care Home, where she resided and received excellent care since February 2016, in Bathurst, NB, and wife of the late Norman LeBlanc occurred on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Bathurst Regional Hospital at the age of 95 years, 11 months. Born in West Bathurst, NB, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Ellen (Nellie) van der Pluijm. Alma was a devoted member of the Cascapedia-St. Jules Catholic Church, Quebec. She was well loved by her neighbors and community members for her talents in raising poultry and baking, especially her bread and donuts and caring for others!
Alma lived in Bathurst for 45 years, before she resettled in St. Jules, Quebec for nearly 50 years on the LeBlanc family homestead.
Alma is survived by her daughter Helen Kenny of Bathurst and her son Raymond LeBlanc (Kathy) of Florenceville-Bristol, NB; brother Tony Vander Pluijm Sr. of Bathurst; 6 grandchildren, Mike Kenny, Keith Kenny, Ron Kenny (Christine), Brian Kenny (Wendy), Erica LeBlanc and Tyler LeBlanc; 7 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband Norman, she was predeceased by her first husband Emery Power, son Keith Power, grandson Patrick Kenny, infant sister Alma, sisters Antonia and Gertrude (Louis) Lavoie, and brothers Dociety and Johnny.
Visitation will take place at Elhatton’s Funeral Home on Friday February 3, 2017 from 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated from HolyFamilyChurch in Bathurst on Saturday February 4, 2017 at 10 am. Pallbearers for the service will be Keith Kenny, Ron Kenny, Brian Kenny, Amby LeBlanc, Dan LeBlanc and Tyler LeBlanc. Honorary pall bearers are Tony Vander Pluijm and Clement LeBlanc. Internment will take place in the Cascapedia-StJulesCemetery in the spring with a memorial mass.
