Bathurst-It is with profound sadness that we the family announce the death of our mother, Theresa (Garrett) Boucher, wife of the late Gerard Boucher, formerly of Levesque Street. Our mom passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, at the age of 89.
Mom was born on April 20 1927 in Bathurst, N.B., to William and Helena (Lavigne) Garrett.
She is survived by five children: Helen (late Christopher) Doucet, Bill (Lesley) Boucher, Nancy Boucher of Bathurst, Greg (Stephanie) Boucher of Borden, Ontario and Jeff (Ruth) Boucher of Fredericton, N.B. She is also survived by a brother, Herbert (Ann) Garrett and one sister, Eileen Kennedy both of Bathurst; several brothers and sisters-in-law as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mom is also survived by the joys of her life, her 5 grandsons: Eric, Marc, Ben, Jeremy and Corey and her one great-grandson, Abel.
Mom was predeceased by five brothers: Arthur, John, Percy, William and Robert, and three sisters: Marie, Eleanor and Helena, and one son-in –law, Christopher Doucet.
She was happiest when surrounded by family and mom was fortunate to be able to celebrate her upcoming 90th birthday with loved ones prior to her passing.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Chaleur Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit for the compassionate care mom received. In addition, the family would like to thank Linda and Kevin Vienneau and the staff of Residence Vienneau for opening their home and their hearts to our mother. During her brief time there, she was very happy.
There will be no visitations at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 29th at the Sacred Heart Cathedral at 2 p.m.
Donations in memory of Theresa can be made to the Chaleur Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Alzheimer’s Society of Canada or to an organization of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton Funeral Home in Bathurst. (www.elhatton.com)
