Bathurst – Ray (Randolph) Arseneau of South Bathurst, passed away on Saturday October 14, 2017, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, with his family by his side, at the age of 81.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Leo and Cassie (Asselin) Arseneau.
He is survived by his loving children: Lynn Guitard (Richard), Todd, Kelly (Leo) Sisk and Stacey (Philippe) Bertin, all of Bathurst.
His grandchildren: Jessica Guitard, Alex Sisk and Troy Boudreau. His great-grandbabies: Alexis, Foster, Marilou and Mathis and his nephew Bryan (Rob) Arseneau of Toronto.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 56 years Jeannie (Jean) Furlotte. His grandson Shanon Guitard, three brothers, Eddie, Jimmy and Andy. Two sisters, Dolly and Lillian.
Ray had many wonderful accomplishments in his lifetime. He worked at Consolidated Pulp and Papermill for 40 years.
He was a volunteer firefighter with the mill and also with the City of Bathurst for many years. He created and became Captain of the Rescue Unit and introduced the Jaws of Life to our city, which is still saving countless lives today. Ray was an avid wood craftsman, making family and friends many beautiful pieces of furniture. He was also involved with the Boy Scouts of Canada. For the last three years dad became a great fan of the various card parties around our city thanks to his special friend, Freda Boucher. He especially liked the Janeville parties because of their fabulous lunches.
At his request, there will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday October 19, 2017 at 2 p.m. from Holy Family Church, St. Peter Ave, Bathurst.
Thank you to the wonderful staff in the Dialysis Unit and to the many Physicians who helped him over the last few years and a special thanks to the second west floor nurses for such great care.
