It is with great sadness the family of Adelard Gionet of Bathurst, husband of Thelma Gionet (Morrison), announces his death on Sunday April 14, 2019 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst, at the age of 84. 

He was the son of the late Hubert Gionet and Eugenie (Gionet) Gionet.

He is survived by his loving wife Thelma and his children Brad Gionet (Shelly) of Slave lake AB, Wendy Gionet Landry (Marc) of Bathurst NB, Daphne Savoie (Jim) of Calgary AB, and Lisa Foran (Randy) of Switzerland. Also, four grandchildren Kevol and Kalum Landry, Kiera and Brettney Savoie. Along with several nieces and nephews. 

He is also survived by one sister, Rita Laffoley of Sudbury ON, and one sister- in- law, Evelyn Gionet of Bathurst.

He was pre-deceased by two brothers: Gerard and Medard, and two sisters: Bertha and Nicole.

He was a Lab Technician by career at the former Smurfit-Stone Mill for 41 years upon retirement. 

The sound of light-hearted, joyous whistling was always a prelude to Adelard presence. Many remember seeing him at the bowling alley racking up an envious high score, earning him many trophies and a permanent recognition plaque at Capital lanes.  Adelard was an avid lover of cross country skiing and enjoying the outdoor trails. His passion for games and cards lead to many exciting evenings between friends and family. Adelard always had his cribbage board ready and waiting for any willing challenger.  

The Family would like to thank the staff on the 2nd floor east and of the Palliative Care Unit along with Adelard's physicians at the Chaleur Regional Hospital and at the Brise de l’Oasis residence for their kindness and care. 

There will be no visitations at the funeral home. Funeral and Mass to Celebrate and Honor Adelard’s life will be held at 2pm on Monday April 22, 2019 at Holy Family Church.
