Bathurst – William “Billy” Melanson, husband of the late Frances (Aubie)Melanson, of Church St., Bathurst, passed away on Saturday December 26, 2020 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, at the age of 86.

Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Andrew and Opal (Simmons) Melanson. 

Billy was retired from the former Consolidated Bathurst Paper Mill. 

He is survived by three children: Randy (Brenda), David (Rachelle Doucet) and Janice Noël (Brian) all of Bathurst. 

Four grandchildren: Jimmy-Dean, Cory, Ryan and Lori. 

His partner, Alice LaPointe of Bathurst.  

One brother, Edmund “Boy” Melanson of Bathurst. 

Several nieces and nephews. 

He was pre-deceased by several brothers and sisters. 

The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday evening December 29, 2020 for a Celebration of Life, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Southside Lounge, King Ave., Bathurst.  

Donations in memory of Billy may be made to a charity of the donors choice.   The family would like to thank the staff of the Chaleur Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit for the excellent care given to Billy. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
