It is with great sadness, but with such fond memories, that we the family announce the passing of Daniel Stuart King of Janeville, NB and Ottawa, ON, on Sunday, January 9, 2022, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst, New Brunswick, at the age of 71.
Born in St. Lambert, Quebec, he was the son of the late Mary (Gill) and Russell King. Much of his adult life was spent in Ottawa, working, volunteering and raising his family.
Dan is survived by his wife, Grace King (Ellis), his sons Mike King (Julie) of Bathurst, NB and Jon King (Allie) of Ottawa, ON, his daughter Nadine Charest (Eric) of Ottawa, ON and grandsons Mitchell, Matthew and Andrew. He is survived by his sisters, Marilyn Griffin (Nigel) of Taunton, England and Rosilyn King of Comox, BC, his brother-in-law Dale Ellis (Heather) of Dartmouth, NS, and his mother-in-law Clotilda Ellis of Salmon Beach, NB. In addition, he will be remembered affectionately by his nieces (Lucy, Caitlin, and Katrina), nephews (Edgar, Nicholas, Matthew, Benjamin, Richard, and Allen) and their families, many friends and neighbours.
A child at heart, he was never without a laugh or a joke. Papa delighted in spending time with his grandsons and entertaining others. He was proud of his years with the Federal Public Service and his volunteer work with the United Church. Singing with the choirs of the Atlantic Voices, the Central United Church (Clifton) and the Barrhaven United Church was one of the joys of his life. He took great pleasure in hiking and his time at the local SPCA bookstore. He loved his farm on Chaleur Bay with the woods, the ocean, the birds and wildlife.
We would like to invite friends and family to a celebration of life held at the Central United Church in Clifton on Thursday, July 28th at 2 pm with a reception to follow.
Donations in memory of Dan may be made to the Bathurst Volunteer Centre (https://www.bvc-cbb.ca) or a charity of the donor's choice.
