It is with sadness that the family of Charles J. Young of Saint Anne announce his passing at the Chaleur Regional Hospital on Saturday, January 22nd, 2022 at the age of 83.

Born in Bathurst, he was the son of James Joseph “Jimmy” Young and Josephine (Lavigne) Young.

Besides his common-law spouse of 44 years, Carmella (LaCroix) Smearer, he is survived by his son Kevin Young and daughter, Kim Chamberlain (Michael) as well as Laura Lee Smearer (John Furlong) and Ashley Smearer (Rachel Losier). His grandchildren: Jennifer, Meagan, Patrick, Jonathan and Vanessa and one great-grandchild, Jace.

He was predeceased by his brothers Irving, Gerald, Kenneth, George and sisters: Odis, Silverina, Marjorie and Isabella. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Charles also leaves to mourn several nephews, nieces, including special niece Sally (Young) Ellis of PEI along with several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and friends.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 10th at 2p.m from Elhatton's Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.

Donations in memory of Charles can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, SPCA or a charity of the donor’s choice.
