Big River, NB - Gary Garrett, 79, of Big River, passed away on Tuesday January 24, 2023, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.

Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Vincent and Mary (Watson) Garrett.

He is survived by his long-time partner, Jacqueline Lemieux of Bathurst.

Three sons: Christopher Garrett (Kathy) of Sussex, NB, Jason Garrett (Cindy) of Ontario and Johnathan Garrett of Bathurst.

Three step-children: Natacha Thomas (Denis), Bonita Savoie (Roger) and Joanie Lemieux (Sonia) all of Bathurst.

Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Sisters: Ethel Morin (Paul) of Edmundston, Joan Boucher (Harvey), Elvira Roy (Jean Guy) and Shirley Haché (Alyre) all of Bathurst.

Several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by a brother, Kenneth, a sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Duguay and a step-granddaughter, Rebecca Lemieux-Christie.

He worked for the former Brunswick Mines for 38 1/2 years. After retirement, he loved the outdoors, including fishing, hunting and remained very active.

There will be no visitations at the funeral home. Funeral service will be celebrated on Friday, July 7th, 2023 at 11 a.m. from Elhatton’s Funeral Home Chapel. (www.elhatton.com)
