It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of Mrs. Martina Thibodeau, wife of the late Sylvester Thibodeau, of Bathurst, which occurred Friday February 24, 2023 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital at the age of 92.
Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Wilhelmine (Jean) Drysdale.
She is survived by her children: Wayne (Joanne) Thibodeau and Deborah (Danny) O’Toole both of Bathurst.
Eight grandchildren: Shawna, Lisa, Sally, Luke, Tyson, Kailan, Natasha and Jesse.
Five great-grandchildren: Chase, Izayah, Lucy, Brayden and Henry.
Two sisters: Juliette Tremblay of Montreal, QC., and Gisele Garrett of Toronto, ON.
Besides her parents, Martina was pre-deceased by two children: Gloria (John) Furey and Keith Thibodeau and her siblings: Alcide, Romeo, Lucien, Sylvia, Pamela and Emily.
Throughout her years, Martina worked in many restaurants and then for 20 years at the NB Liquor Commission. She was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Herman J Good, VC Branch 18 of the Royal Canadian Legion. Her hobbies included bowling, playing darts, shuffleboard and knitting. She volunteered with handicapped children, the Canadian Blood Services and The Royal Canadian Legion.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A service will be held in the spring.
The family would like to thank the personnel of the Palliative Care Unit at the Chaleur Regional Hospital for their care and compassion.
