It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Werner Robert Hofmann of Montreal, Quebec, who passed away at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Montreal on Thursday August 17th, at the age of 87.
Werner was born in Bad Rappenau, Germany in 1935, son of the late Phillip Hofmann and Johanna Litterer Hofmann, both of Bad Rappenau, Germany.
He is survived by his beloved wife Patrina of 45 years, and one sister Hanna Rack also of Bad Rappenau, Germany. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Werner is predeceased by two brothers Karl (Ingrid) and Herbert (Margaret).
Werner came to Canada in 1957 when he was 22 years old. He started to work at various jobs in the Montreal area. He found his true passion, working on tennis courts. He first Tennis job was at the Mount Royal Tennis Club. Through hard work and desire, he opened his own Clay Court Tennis Construction Business, H/B Sports Enterprises Inc. He created an amazing reputation for quality construction and was requested to build Clay Courts all across Canada for over 46 years. However, due to failing health, he had to retire.
His tennis court was his first love, but he had a little love left over for his wife Patrina.
He enjoyed his time relaxing at the cottage in Morin Heights and at their Condo in Dunedin, Florida.
There will be no visitations at the funeral home. Funeral service will be celebrated on September 5, at 2:00 p.m. at the Elhatton’s Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home in Bathurst, N. B. www.elhatton.com

Special appreciations are made to the staff of Henri-Bradet Centre Hospiotalier and Saint Mary’s Hospital for the excellent care that was provided Werner while he was there.
