Alfred “Freddie” Audet passed away peacefully at the age of 75 on September 23rd at Chaleur Regional Hospital surrounded by his family.

Born in Montreal, he was the son of the late Effie (Chamberlain) and Edmund Audet and is survived by his wife Susan (Abernethy), his two daughters Sacha Bepperling (Nat) and Robyn Audet, his sister Renee Savage, and his pride and joy, his grandsons “the boys” Dane and Dax Bepperling and Dylan Gammon.

Among many loving extended family members and friends, Fred held a special place in his heart for his dear friends, Stephane Daigle and Steven Veniot, who helped keep his spirits up right till the end.

Fred was predeceased by his sister Joan Heckbert and his brothers Bill and Paul Heckbert.

A life-long resident of Bathurst, Fred opened an electrical contracting business, Wye Electric Ltd., in 1972. He was an entrepreneur at heart and, after many business ventures over the years, he opened the Apollo Cinemas complex in 2000 and the Cast & Crew Pub in 2015. Dad (aka Grampy) had one of the most clever, creative minds of anyone we knew - always thinking outside the box. He had a great appreciation for good music, good food and cool cars. Often seen driving around town in the Tacoma or his Lotus Super 7 (most likely wearing his white scarf), Fred was never one to sit still. He always had a project on the go, was building or fixing something, or lending a hand to someone in need. He liked to keep fit, and many knew him from Tai Chi or the gym. He loved spending time with family and friends at his home, his cottage and his camp, and he loved telling stories of his adventurous life. In Fred’s words “It was quite a ride”. You certainly earned your “Stairway to Heaven”. You can rest easy now… we’ll see ya on the other side. Love you.

As per Fred’s wishes there will be no funeral service or visitation. A celebration of Fred’s life will be held for family and friends at the Cast & Crew Pub in Bathurst on Sunday, November 3rd from 2pm to 4pm.

Donations in Fred’s memory can be made to the Parkinson’s Association, the Royal Canadian Legion or a charity of choice.
