It is with sadness that the family of Harold Hachey announces his passing, which occurred on November 24, 2024, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, one month short of his 86th birthday.

Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late James Hachey and Hilda Carroll.

Harold was the husband of the late Kay (Aube) and was also predeceased by brothers Donald and Elmer.

He is survived by two sons in Bathurst: Claude (Paula) and Howard.

He was a proud grandfather of two grandchildren: Scott Hachey (Samantha) of Fredericton, NB, and Amber Hachey of Calgary, AB.

The highlight of this past summer for him was meeting his great-granddaughter.

He is also survived by his sister, Marion Hachey of Moncton, as well as brothers-in-law, a sister-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Harold and Kay raised their family in Janeville. He preferred the open spaces, the water and spending time in the woods. His working life consisted of construction in St. John, Consolidated Bathurst, and as a lobster fisherman. Although they eventually moved back to Bathurst, a part of him remained downshore. Harold had a lengthy struggle with heart disease, however, remained independent up until very recently. We attribute that to care from medical professionals as well as his stubbornness.

The family would like to thank Dr. Wade, Dr. Matteau, the staff on the 4th floor west, and palliative care at the Chaleur Regional Hospital.

As per his wishes, there will not be any visitation or funeral service.
