Mrs. Catherine Roy, 95, wife of the late Edmond Roy, of Ord Ave., Bathurst, passed away on Monday (January 1, 2007) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a short illness, surrounded by her 13 children.
Born in Bathurst, October 10, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Jerome and Mary (Couture) Bertin.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Her greatest joy was her family, friends and her China doll collection. She loved looking after her home and flowers. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Edmond Roy, in 1978.
She grew up in Bathurst, met and married her husband in 1929 & had 13 children:

49 grandchildren, 72 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by 5 sisters; Ida Cormier, Ethel Chamberlain, Marrion Bateman, Marguerite Pinette, Delima Bertin, 5 grandson; Gerry Pinette, Wallace Pinette, Rickie Pinette, Kenneth Bernier, Barry Boudreau and one great-granddaughter, Andrea Clowater.
There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday afternoon (January 4, 2007) at 2:00 p.m. from St. Theresa Church, South Bathurst. Burial will be in the Mount Carmel Cemetery in the spring. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
